We were delighted to receive a visit from HRH the Duchess of Cornwall on Wednesday 19th February. Camilla was welcomed by Brent’s Mayor and Chief Executive as well as by our own Chief Executive, Carl Blackburn.
Camilla met a range of people involved in Brent 2020’s Borough of Culture, including the Blueprint Collective, volunteers and people who took part in the amazing Rise opening ceremony.
She walked around a packed Front Room, mingling and talking with a wide range of residents, community groups, volunteers and parents and toddlers from the Granville Plus Nursery School.
Carl then gave Camilla a tour of the creative studios that make up The Granville’s Enterprise Hub, and introduced her to the enterprises that are based here, including Urban Cordial, K2K Radio, Dayo’s Handmade Cards, the British International Education Association and To The T, amongst others.
The Duchess’ visit ended with a performance of Irish and Albanian dance by the Ellis-Parr Dance Academy and Shpresa, and a poem by local artist Just-Ori.
Although the visit was very brief, we were able to show Camilla some of the fantastic work that takes place at The Granville and gave her a warm Brent welcome.
